Woodhaven of Wayne, and Woodhaven of Wyckoff, are active programs designed to help seniors maintain independence and improve their quality of life, while also offering a welcome respite for their caregivers.
The seniors we serve either live alone or with loved ones. They may have a physical or cognitive impairment, be socially isolated, need assistance with personal care, or require minimal assistance to function independently. Whatever their circumstances, Woodhaven can individualize its program to best meet their needs.
In our safe, friendly environment, participants receive medical care, nutrition services, social services, pastoral care, and personal-care services. We also provide planned activities and recreational programs to encourage socialization and engagement, both of which have been proven to help keep the mind sharp.
Health and Therapeutic Services
Woodhaven’s social and medical adult day care isn’t a one-size-fits-all program. Rather, the program is customized with the resources that seniors need. Our individualized care plans are created to help the client receive the maximum benefit from the program. That’s why we take input from the client themselves, their caregiver(s), and personal physician, and meet their unique needs.
Our full-time registered nurses monitor every client’s medical progress, administer medication, and serve as liaisons between the client’s doctor and their loved ones. We regularly check vital signs and offer seasonal flu vaccines. Other benefits include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as psychiatry and podiatry services.
Personal Care Services
Looking and feeling good undoubtedly are linked with self-esteem and well-being. That’s why we offer personal-care services to our clients. We recognize how personal hygiene and maintenance of a well-kept appearance are important, no matter your age. We offer shower facilities, shaving, hair care (both barbers and hairdressers), and nail care to help our clients maintain their dignity and sense of self.
Researcher shows that recreational activities are essential for older adults to keep their minds sharp and combat the social isolation they often feel. We offer trips to nearby shopping malls, nature walks, sing-alongs, games, and contests. Intergenerational activities and talks about current events are essential to foster a sense of wellbeing. We also enjoy themed events, barbecues, and birthday parties that offer fun and friendship.
Woodhaven clients also enjoy seasonal and multicultural activities, from Valentine’s Day and Halloween parties to Hawaiian luaus and Mexican fiestas. Each year, more than 150 people enjoy the annual family Christmas party, too.
Our full range of activities are designed to educate, stimulate, and entertain our residents and combat any social isolation seniors often feel. A typical schedule might include:
Counseling and Family Support
Our social workers offer individual and family assistance, as well as support groups, and provide information on home care and long-range planning.
