NewBridge Services to Join Christian Health

Christian Health board Chair Rick DeBel and NewBridge Services board President Debbie King have announced that NewBridge Services, a nonprofit provider of community and residential behavioral health, educational, and senior services, will soon join Christian Health. Christian Health is a nonprofit health-care organization offering a continuum of senior living, short-term rehabilitation, and behavioral health services.

“This is a relationship that will fortify our ability to meet the needs of our communities through existing and new programs; we’ll move forward together, beyond what each organization could achieve individually,” King said.

By joining together, both organizations will be able to grow the services each currently provides and expand the depth and breadth of services across a wider geographic area. The thoughtful integration of the two health-care organizations further solidifies their position in the community and creates new opportunity.

“Christian Health and NewBridge Services share many commonalities in organizational history and culture and mission. This arrangement creates shared benefits for both organizations that will ultimately benefit the communities they now collectively serve,” said DeBel.

Founded in 1911, Christian Health has deep roots in northern New Jersey, expanding their continuum of care over the years to meet the growing needs of the community. They offer residential communities for older adults, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, and memory support, as well as inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Their behavioral health services include outpatient counseling, a partial-hospitalization and intensive outpatient program, and an inpatient behavioral health hospital.

NewBridge Services brings balance to people’s lives through counseling, housing, and education. Their programs address some of the most challenging needs in our community at this time, including mental illness, addiction, isolation, and homelessness. With headquarters in Pequannock Township, New Jersey, they also have locations in Morris, Passaic, and Sussex Counties. In addition to mental health counseling for children, adults, and families, NewBridge offers valuable education and career assistance programs, community outreach to older adults and adults with severe behavioral health needs, group homes for adults, and school-based services.

The agreement between Christian Health and NewBridge Services will take effect following the completion of governmental regulatory reviews, expected by the end of the year. At the time of completion, NewBridge Services will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Christian Health, while continuing to maintain their programmatic identity and board governance.

“We can all look forward to the benefit of shared resources, integrated knowledge, and the healthy growth of the organization,” said Michelle Borden, LCSW, NewBridge Services CEO. Borden will join Christian Health’s executive team, led by Christian Health President and CEO Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA. “I truly believe our staff and the people we're committed to serving will benefit from this new venture,” Borden said. NewBridge’s Debbie King will join Christian Health’s board of trustees, while Struyk will join NewBridge’s leadership board.

“Our organizations have been working on this agreement with the confidence that the communities we serve will benefit tremendously as we align our shared values and commitment to excellence. I am excited for NewBridge Services to join Christian Health and enable both organizations’ dedicated physicians, professional clinicians, team members, volunteers, and supporters to work together to positively affect community health in northern New Jersey,” Struyk said.
