The 2026 Best Nursing Homes list recognizes communities that demonstrate exceptional performance in the care of older adults, based on 17 quality measures, including those related to caregiver staffing and patient outcomes.

For the sixth consecutive year, Heritage Manor has been recognized on Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes list. The skilled nursing community was among 1,200 communities chosen from 14,752 across 33 U.S. states – and was ranked number 2 of 50 in New Jersey in the category “Over 150 Beds.”
Heritage Manor’s commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care is evidenced by this exceptional rating in a highly competitive field. This year’s list relied on four key criteria:
- Quality metrics published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- A national online survey of thousands of medical professionals and administrators working in nursing homes
- Accreditation data from The Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
- Patient and relatives’ feedback reflected in Google rating scores

Heritage Manor
Heritage Manor received a Five-Star Rating from the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System, a helpful resource for older adults and their families and caregivers when choosing trusted skilled nursing communities.
Communities with five stars are considered by the organization to deliver an exceptional level of care quality. Heritage Manor’s rating was determined by achieving a high performance on 15 different physical and clinical measures for short-stay and long-stay residents, as well as demonstrating high staffing levels and low turnover. These results highlight Heritage Manor’s strong focus on providing reliable, high-quality care as a top-performing skilled nursing community, giving residents and their families confidence that they’ll receive care and support that meets high national standards.

Christian Health is one only two organizations in the state of New Jersey to be recognized with the Gold Award – a prestigious honor given to long-term and post-acute care communities across the country with a top-tier performance in quality care.
The Gold Award is the highest of three distinct levels possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, based on the core values and criteria of the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. Heritage Manor and Bolger-Short-Term Rehab are ranked at the esteemed Gold level and demonstrate superior results in leadership, strategic planning, customer and workforce focus, and operations and knowledge management – all vital areas to ensure the provision of exceptional care.

Mental Health Services
Our comprehensive continuum of mental health services – including LiveWell Counseling, Gracepoint Partial-Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program, Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health inpatient hospital, and women’s trauma care at Haven at Ramapo Ridge, – are accredited by The Joint Commission.
This accreditation means our programs and services have been thoroughly evaluated by The Joint Commission, an independent, nonprofit organization, and met nationally recognized standards for quality, safety, and effective care based on on-site surveys where surveyors review patient records, observe care, and interview staff and patients.
Our care is evaluated against this comprehensive set of standards, which ensures that our spaces are safe and supportive, our team is well-trained and qualified, and our patients’ needs are met with dignity and respect. This accreditation reflects our continued commitment to providing compassionate, effective, and patient-centered mental health care.
