Wedding Season Brings Brides & New Excitement for The Vista

Lynda Raymond has just one regret about her mother, Irene Turrisi, moving to The Vista, Christian Health’s (CHCC) new continuing care retirement community for adults 62 and older.

“I wish I could, too!” Mrs. Raymond says. “The Vista is going to be first-class, and my mother deserves a first-class experience. The way she is going to live is amazing. I am so excited about her moving to The Vista.”

The Vista, which will be built on CHCC’s Wyckoff campus, will feature up to 199 spacious, one-level apartments with one or two bedrooms. While the community at The Vista will be intimate in scale, residents will enjoy abundant amenities. Features will include three dining options – fine-dining, casual café, and pub-style fare; state-of-the-art fitness center; aquatic center; spa and salon services; Cultural Arts Center; library; social events; educational programs; walking trails; and covered parking.

The Vista’s location is appealing to Mrs. Turrisi. She called Wyckoff home for 50 years before moving to Hawthorne in 2009. She founded Something Special bridal salon on Everett Avenue in the township 33 years ago. Today, she still helps run the store with Mrs. Raymond, her oldest daughter, and Lisa Gilmore, her middle daughter, who are both Wyckoff residents. Her youngest daughter, Denise Turrisi of Ridgewood, has also helped with the business.

“Something Special keeps me busy, but I don’t want to be a burden to my children down the road. So when some of my friends mentioned that they were moving to The Vista, I went online to TheVista.org for more information,” Mrs. Turrisi says.

The 82-year-old made an appointment at The Vista Information Center. Encouraged by what she learned, she invited her three daughters to accompany her to her next visit.

“We were with her at every appointment at The Vista almost from the start,” says Mrs. Raymond, whose two children were CHCC Junior Volunteers. “We helped her pick her apartment.”

The selection of Vista apartments is vast. Residents may select from 19 different floor plans ranging from 845 square feet to 1,537 square feet.

“I really like that the apartments will all be on one floor. My townhouse has steps and cathedral ceilings. That would be difficult down the road,” Mrs. Turrisi says.

As for the amenities, which is she looking forward to the most?

“I can’t pick one or two,” Mrs. Turrisi says. “I’m looking forward to everything!”

Although The Vista is not built yet, the community is already forming. Individuals like Mrs. Turrisi who have made a 10-percent deposit in advance of the anticipated opening and locked into pre-construction pricing are members of the Vantage Club. They are invited to special events designed so they can get to know their neighbors-to-be, provide input on design, and be kept up-to-date on progress.

“It’s the best feeling for me and my sisters that our mother is going to live at The Vista,” Mrs. Raymond says. “It warms our hearts to know that she is going to be cared for by people who are caring.”

The Vista Information Center is located at 525 Cedar Hill Ave., Cedar Hill Plaza, Wyckoff. Call (201) 848-4200 or email Live@TheVista.org to make an appointment today.
