Christian Health Stands With #HAVhope: Our Commitment to Safety Every Day

On June 5, Christian Health joins hospitals and health systems across the country in recognizing #HAVhope Friday, a national day of awareness dedicated to ending violence in health care workplaces and communities.

Led by the American Hospital Association, #HAVhope highlights the partnerships, innovations, and everyday actions health care settings take to create safer environments for their team members, patients, residents, and visitors. At Christian Health, we are proud to prioritize safety and security across our campuses every day.

“#HAVhope shines a light on the incredible work health care teams do every day to foster environments of dignity, safety, and respect,” said Stephen J. Dumke, LNHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Christian Health and American Hospital Association board member. “This day is an important opportunity to recognize that work and the people who make it possible. I’m proud that Christian Health is part of that national effort and grateful for the dedication our team members bring to it every day.”

Why Safety Matters

Fostering safety is essential to the healing and compassionate care we provide. We serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and we are committed to protecting them and those who care for them by creating a safe, supportive, and responsive environment.

“Safety is the foundation of everything we do,” said Toni Loyas, VP Operations, Residential & Support Services at Christian Health. “When residents, patients, families, and team members feel safe, they can focus on healing, connection, and care.”

We implement this dedication to safety and a violence-free workplace through multiple initiatives, including thorough training, innovative technology, and preventive measures.

How We Prioritize Safety

  • De-escalation training for employees: Christian Health provides de-escalation training to employees to equip them with practical tools to respond calmly, confidently, and effectively in challenging situations.
  • Advanced panic alarm technology for staff safety: We have implemented the Lynx F9/F11 panic alarm application across campus, giving staff access to fast, reliable support when they need it.
  • A highly trained Security and Response Team: All members of our Security team are specially trained and serve as part of a dedicated Response Team prepared to respond to concerns across the Christian Health campus.

“Preparedness is one of the most important parts of keeping a campus safe,” said Daniel Dooley, Director of Safety & Security at Christian Health. “Our team trains to respond quickly, professionally, and with care. Whether we are supporting staff, assisting residents and families, or addressing a concern on campus, our goal is always to protect people and preserve a calm, safe environment.”

This June 5, we invite others to join us in recognizing #HAVhope and reaffirming our shared commitment to promoting safety, respect, and hope for our community.
