Center of Excellence

LiveWell Counseling announces Center of Excellence for behavioral-health services for people with developmental disabilities.

According to the New Jersey Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities Dual Diagnosis Task Force, the prevalence of mental-health disorders in the developmentally disabled population ranges from 30 to 40 percent. The task force also highlighted a long-recognized need for professionals with the clinical expertise to evaluate and treat individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental-health disorders in a comprehensive and coordinated fashion. CHCCC is dedicated to meeting this critical need in North Jersey.

“After four years and a great deal of planning, this commitment to excellence is something that all of our staff can be extremely proud of,” said Bart Mongiello, Director of Outpatient Mental Health Services for Christian Health (CHCC).

The National Council for Behavioral Health recognizes four core tenets of Centers of Excellence for Behavioral Health: easy access to care; superb customer-focused service; comprehensive, consumer-driven care; and excellent patient outcomes. CHCCC added two of its own tenets to complete its commitment to excellence and CHCC’s Person- and Family-centered Care philosophy: a nurturing and therapeutic environment, and engagement of consumers and caregivers.

CHCC offers a complete continuum of mental-health services through three programs:

  • CHCCC, which provides individual, family, and group counseling for all ages;
  • Ramapo Ridge Partial-hospitalization Program, a voluntary, short-term outpatient treatment program for adults experiencing severe symptoms; and
  • Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health, a fully accredited inpatient psychiatric hospital for adult and geriatric patients.
